Hi, I'm Ofelia


Ofelia Esparza is a contemporary artist living and working in Los Angeles. In addition to creating art all her life, she taught elementary school for 30 years and raised nine children. The Chicana artist is a self-proclaimed altarista, meaning she’s a master altar, or ofrenda, builder. She's also a National Endowment for the Arts Heritage Fellow, her work has adorned the Smithsonian Institute in Washington DC, and has a permanent altar at the Los Angeles Natural History Museum.
