Zadonu African Music & Dance Company is a non-profit African culture company dedicated to teaching, restaging and preserving authentic African Music and Dance in the United States and abroad. Its formation idea was conceived in 1986 by Kobla Ladzekpo, native of Anyako, Volta region of Ghana, West Africa. The Company’s name ZADONU is derived from the first names of Kobla’s deceased father and brother- well respected and recognized composers and drummers among the Anlo-Ewe people of southern Ghana. The group’s repertoire includes music and dances from the Ga-Adangme, Dagomba, Dagarti and Ewe people of Ghana, as well as the Ewe’s in Togo and Benin.
